Founded by veterans with deep experience in both business and service, NVBDC was created to meet a critical need in the commercial marketplace: a credible, recognized certification program for veteran-owned businesses. Through rigorous development and close collaboration with corporate and supplier diversity leaders, NVBDC launched its certification program in 2014 and quickly became the trusted standard for SD/VOB certification in the United States.

The National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC) was established in 2013 to address the growing need to identify and certify both service-disabled and veteran-owned businesses (SD/VOBs) in the commercial (corporate) marketplace.
completed 1st certification process in 2014
April 2014, NVBDC completed its Certification process testing in conjunction with representatives from GM, Ford, Chrysler, Kellogg’s, WBENC, NMSDC, VBOC, SCORE, and the VA.
bdr acceptance in 2017
August 2017, The Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR) names the NVBDC as their accepted SD/ VOB certification body.
