By the nature of the U.S. Military our clients represent every element of American society. Veterans have a unique culture and language that in many cases only another prior service member understands and appreciates. NVBDC strives to represent and hire our fellow veterans and non-veterans across race, gender, age, religion, identity and life experiences that helps our veteran clients feel comfortable when they are interacting with us and each other.

ASK YOURSELF:

Why would a Buyer, Purchasing Professional, Supplier Diversity Manager and the Corporation as a whole risk jeopardizing their name and reputation by issuing a contract to any VETERAN, MINORITY, WOMEN, OR LGBTQ company that is NOT CERTIFIED

These corporations opened a $122 Billion Market for NVBDC Certified Service Disabled and Veteran owned businesses.

Why does it cost to become certified by the NVBDC?

Funding

We don’t have a $100 Million in taxpayer funds like the VA has to fund their verification program known as CVE or vetbiz.gov

On-site Visits

We must conduct an on-site visit with every certification application to meet the “best practice” corporate standards, while the VA “may” conduct an on-site visit, usually only after a complaint is filed. The expenses of air travel, hotels, car rentals, stipend for food for the veterans who conducts the on-site visit can run into $1,000s of dollars.

Operating Costs

Payroll, health insurance, personnel, office space, overhead and just normal operational expenses must be paid from fees collected for certification. We are a nonprofit and frankly our corporate members knowingly underwrite the cost of certification or we would have to triple the cost of certification to our veterans.

Technology Costs

Video conferencing has helped us reduce our on-site expenses but even that has a cost since many of our clients cannot or will not use Zoom (Chinese owned) so we pay for a video conferencing service.

Data Security

Development of the most secure and user-friendly online application program, now in its third development stage is an investment in the future of NVBDC and the cost is a huge percentage of our revenue.

Industry Standards

The NMSDC, WBENC, NGLCC and all of the established certification organizations charge their members the same amount for certification that the NVBDC charges and the idea that Veterans somehow should get a free ride is ludicrous.

Transparency

We publicly post our 990 yearly and anyone who wants to review our financials is welcomed to do it. Our board and officers volunteered for five years without any compensation. We challenge anyone who thinks that veteran certification should be free to try to build a national organization and not pay their officers for five years. We are Veterans helping Veterans and with the support of our corporate members; opened an $80 Billion market for service disabled and veteran owned businesses of ALL sizes.

FEATURED SUCCESS STORIES

The NVBDC views entrepreneurship as another form of employment and we believe that helping our veterans succeed in business helps them, their families and the communities in which they reside.

The NVBDC is the only Veteran Owned Business Certification organization developed by Veterans for Veterans.
